We met Bo Knows accidentally. Directors, writers, sketchers from all over the world were sitting on the couch discussing some storyboards to shoot our Madden nfl 22 coins next project. We decided to trim the length because it seemed quite long. Everyone was offering their opinion on this and that. I just said, 'Why should we not do this? ... How shouldn't we take this idea and move it over here, put this here, put it together and cut out about 5 or 6 seconds?' They looked at me then said 'Wow. That's probably a good idea. Then someone across the table looked at me in a way and said "Bo Knows!' and it stuck. There was no one who sat and washed their heads or stayed up all night with that phrase. It just happened sitting around the table discussing shootings.
Before you received a shoe that was a trademark which was the Nike Air Bo Turf, in 1990, you starred in for the Nike Air Trainer 3, that became known as your shoe. What are your memories surrounding that Air Trainer 3?
Let me explain it this way. In 1969, when I was in the first grade growing up in rural Alabama during winter, it was in 30s in the outside. And I was required to go to school naked. No shoes. I'm not telling this story for an apology or a sad story. But I can remember my brother standing a block away from his home. The front door is open. The sister I was with stood a one block from his brother, and another sister was waiting at the bus stop. When my sister stood at the bus station and saw the bus at the top of the hill just a few blocks further away, she'd yell towards my younger sister, who would yell to my brother. Then my brother would yell at me. After that, I'd run out the barefoot door. By the time my brother arrived at my sister's house I'd be able to catch him by the time he reached me. At the time we made it at the stop for buses I'm 15or 20 feet in front of my brother and sister. I went to school barefoot during the winter of '69 until growing up and wearing my own sneaker that was inspired by my mother ... It was fortunate.
After 30 some odd years, some people still boast about the shoes they have and also collect the shoe. Recently a close friend to me, Anthony Anderson, the comedian, texted me, "Hey, Bo! I'm doing a performance about the sneakers I own. I'm not able to find them. I'm in need of your shoes! It just happened that I had a pair sitting within my work space. I thought, 'Hey, well, I got an item here. I'm able to send these to you.' It's moments like that when I'm able to sit in my chair and think, 'Wow!.'
It was during the NFL season, New York Giants running back Nike athletics player Saquon Barkley received his own variant of the Air Trainer 3. How was it to witness him pay tribute to you via the sneaker?
I blessed him with the shoes. It was like me saying"Grasshopper! It's your time to carry this torch. You have to keep it up. I'm confident that Saquon will do an excellent job of it. Saquon is a wonderful kid. He reminds me a lot of myself. Runs with cheap Mut 22 coins power and has his head in the right direction. This is the thing that impresses me most. His personality isn't his stats. I love the way he conducts himself.
