We've stockists within the UK, Ireland, Germany, France and Dubai. We also have bridal appointments within the studio. Orla and I are generally craftspeople and love the slow fashion method of handcrafting bridal accessories.

How can you describe the vibe/feel of the work?

The vibe at Blue Meadow is modern and minimal. I design pieces which are perfect for layering without having to be overpowering. I love to take traditional styles and provide them with a modern-day twist.

What made you begin designing bridal accessories? Can you recall the first piece you designed?

The first piece I made was for my very own wedding in 2012. I struggled to locate something to match my style so I chose to create my very own headpiece.

Over the coming years, I made pieces for family and friends, so when I graduated with a degree in Fine Art, I chose to start Blue Meadow which launched in 2015.

What are your currently favourite aspects of designing? Is it when you are getting the initial inspiration or if you notice a bride wearing something you've designed?

I love the operation of designing a brand new collection. I specialised in sculpture at university so I prefer to explore the capabilities of materials with my hands rather than drawing a design. The learning from mistakes method is quite exciting and seeing pieces take shape before your vision is really rewarding.

I also love it as soon as a bride involves collecting an item from me. Their pure joy and excitement are the greatest compliment I could have like a designer.

Tell us a little concerning the materials that you employ and the processes that you simply follow…

I'm a large fan of Freshwater Pearls and Mother of Pearl, they're an ideal tone for those shades of bridal gowns and also the possibilities when wiring and embroidering options are endless. I use traditional millinery and couture embroidery strategies to create the veils and headpieces at Blue Meadow.

I have confidence in a slow fashion method of making. The pieces are very labour intensive, so things are made to order to prevent unnecessary wastage.

What do you consider to be the most significant thing about bridal accessories? Do you make a try for something timeless or on-trend? Can you do both?!

I believe that you can do both. I love to put a contemporary twist on the traditional style. When the majority of my brides imagine a blusher veil they believe old fashioned, "Father from the Bride" vibes. But when they see my Pippa or Beba veil they observe how that traditional style can be created modern.

Are there any 'rules' for selecting accessories?

The only rule would be to wear why are you feel amazing! You’re the only real person putting it on so just suit yourself and become true to your style.

But if you're struggling to select how many elements to choose from, I usually tell brides to always pick what complements their lace wedding dress and never what competes with using it.

Do you've any favourite pieces? Or suggestions of pieces that work together?

My favourite piece changes constantly! I love an argument veil this year and put it on with an earring. The Beba veil and Maya earrings are my vibes at the minute. I also love the minimal and airy quality of the Stella veil teamed using the Fallon crow.

If I wasn't taking a veil with will be the Piper crown completely, the detailing and height are extremely extra, within the right way.

What's next for Blue Meadow

I'm so excited for that year ahead! This past year has highlighted a lot of issues with supply chains when ordering materials. I've needed to discontinue many styles which have been so frustrating.

So for that next collection, I'm concentrating on designing and making pieces from sustainable and locally sourced Irish made fabrics. I can't wait!
