RuneScape is among the grandfathers of the MMORPG genre. It is regarded in the top ten games on the market since its debut in January 2001. The game was originally a browser-based one, but has had many different versions due to its massive players with Cheap RS Gold.

In between is Old School RuneScape giving players the old-fashioned 2006 experience and the short-lived DarkScape offering players more PvP-based game. Now, developer Jagex has teamed up with board game creator Steamforged Games to release not only two tabletop games over the course of 2022.

Steamforged Games' collaboration together with Jagex is the latest in a lengthy string of collaborations , bringing the biggest gaming series into a tabletop. The tabletop gaming juggernaut has previously produced board games based off of series like Monster Hunter World and Dark Souls and, most recently, completed the most successful Kickstarter campaign for the Resident Evil 2 board game with over 1 million GBP raised earlier in the year.

Now, the developer is aiming at Gielinor's world as well as RuneScape and plans to launch both a board game and a tabletop RPG core book this year. The two RPG versions will feature many of the most popular characters and places, allowing groups of five or more players to tackle classic adventures taken from RuneScape with the adventure within Gielinor to life. Players can create and upgrade equipment, engage with NPCs and tackle many side missions inspired by classic MMORPG. The board game is scheduled to launch through an Kickstarter campaign later in the year, while the tabletop RPG book is set to launch directly in stores.

The book that is the core for tabletop RPGs will notably be fully compatible with the massive tabletop RPG Dungeons and Dragons the fifth edition of the core books, which will allow dungeonmasters to seamlessly integrate elements from RuneScape into their campaigns.

Jagex President Phil Mansell was optimistic about the project expressing his enthusiasm over the Kickstarter idea "involving those from RuneScape groups," in addition, Steamforged CCO Mat Hart believed the "rich RuneScape universe is going to translate beautifully" into a tabletop setting.

RuneScape has grown considerably since its initial browser-based launch over the last few years, with Steamforged's board games being the most recent offering from OSRS Fire Cape. In an interview, numerous Jagex employees spoke about transitioning Runescape's mobile version to an app that runs across platforms and last September.
