Mppt solar regulator as a necessary component in off-grid power generation system, solar charging controller models and specifications are more and more, the functions and characteristics are also different. For different application scenarios, the requirements for mppt solar regulators are completely different, working parameters, structural design and other aspects are different, today for the mppt solar regulator common battery voltage type to do an analysis.

First, how to use the mppt solar regulator?

The use of mppt solar regulator, voltage is divided into two parts. One is the voltage range of the connected solar panel and the voltage range of the connected battery. At present, the mainstream controller on the market, the battery voltage used is generally 12V, 24V, 48V. But not all controllers can work with these three batteries? No, some are 12V only. Some can automatically adapt to 12V/24V. High-end controllers can automatically adapt to 12V/24V/48V three voltage batteries. Therefore, when choosing the applicable voltage of the controller, we must judge it according to our own battery voltage.

Second, the solar panel and battery matching

Input solar panel voltage range, which many people are easy to ignore, it is not very clear how much voltage of the solar panel to match the controller. Before choosing the solar panel voltage, first determine whether your controller belongs to the PWM type or MPPT type, different charging technologies have different voltage requirements for solar panels. If it is a PWM controller, the voltage of the selected solar panel is basically fixed, and can not be changed casually, otherwise it will cause the battery to be dissatisfied, or energy waste. Common specifications are as follows

Charge the 12V battery: the open circuit voltage of the solar panel is generally between 20-22V, and the working voltage is 18V

Charging the 24V battery: the open circuit voltage of the solar panel is generally between 40-44V, and the working voltage is 36V

If the MPPT mppt solar regulator is selected, the voltage requirements for the solar panel are more flexible. As long as the open circuit voltage of the solar panel is lower than the maximum solar panel voltage specified by the controller, it can be charged. Does not affect the charging efficiency. For example, a 50V solar panel can charge both a 12V battery and a 24V battery.

Based on the above analysis, to choose a correct controller, we must first determine the operating voltage of the entire system, and what kind of charging technology controller is used. In this way, the battery parameters and solar panel parameters of the mppt solar regulator can be determined.
