Melvor Idle strips away the 3D graphics and environments of RuneScape and similar MMOs and reduces it to a simple idle game that relies on menus which lets players manage their abilities, inventory and quests. Activating combat encounters as well as winning them earns you XP and loot which can later be put into any skills tree or upgrade the players wish to purchase, and repeated activities like crafting and cutting wood can yield benefits of their own.
Malcolm has been playing RuneScape since childhood and has also dabbled in several of the most popular idle games, such as Clicker Heroes, Cookie Clicker and NGU Idle. Although he enjoyed them, he felt the genre had the potential to do something more enjoyable in a manner similar to Jagex's top RPG.
"So I decided to challenge myself to make my own game without even imagining that the game would ever be released, much less become famous," he tells buy osrs gp.
